Arise George Bowie MBE
Our very own George Bowie is getting an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours List.
Presenter and DJ George Bowie is getting an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours List.
He's been on-air since the 1980s after initially joining Radio Clyde to answer phones for Superscoreboard.
It's for decades of service to broadcasting and charitable causes.
Keeping the secret
He said: "I've only told a small number of people like my wife Ellen and my oldest son, Ross.
"They can be trusted, but I don't think the girls could keep it a secret."
Wardrobe dilemma
The 58-year-old has worked with countless presenters over the years and enjoyed record audience figures.
His biggest dilemma now is deciding what to wear when he is presented with his medal.
He added: "Ellen wants me to wear a kilt - I am not sure about it but I think you have to wear one when you are Scottish though.
"My mum is absolutely buzzing to tell her pals, it's such a big deal to that generation.
"I wish my dad was here to see it but I know he is looking down and is proud."
