Appeal after Clydebank pensioner's jewellery stolen
Police are reminding the public not to let strangers into their homes
Police are searching for two suspects after an elderly woman’s jewellery was stolen in Clydebank on Tuesday.
A 79 year old woman was working in her garden at around 11am on 18 August, when she was approached by two men who offered to help her finish the job.
After the work was completed, one of the men asked to use the bathroom of her home on Stevenson Street.
The men were paid, and then left in a silver/grey saloon type car, but the woman later discovered that jewellery had been stolen from her property.
Police are describing the first man as being between 20-20, around 5ft 10, of stock built, with brown hair and wearing dark clothing.
The second suspect is between 20-30 years old, taller, of slim build, with dark hair and wearing dark clothing.
Police appeal
Inspector Emma O’Reilly said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and we would urge local residents to be aware of anyone arriving unannounced at your property.
“Householders should ensure that doors are secure, even when at home and use a door chain.
“Do not let anyone in until you are certain of who they are, or who they claim to represent.
“We would also encourage people to report any suspicious activity to us – we take all reports seriously and will investigate them fully.”
