Rihanna's 'Diamonds' Is Number One!

She topples Psy's 'Gangnam Style'

Rihanna has beaten One Direction to the singles chart top spot with her latest release ā€˜Diamonds’.

1D’s ā€˜Live While We’re Young’ was initially ahead of ā€˜Diamonds’ in the chart battle but on Wednesday the Bajan star edged ahead by 250 copies.

By the end of the week Rihanna notched up a 19,000 copy lead with last week’s number one, PSY’s ā€˜Gangnam Style’, sneaking ahead of One Direction into second place.

Released on Friday, Adele’s James Bond theme ā€˜Skyfall’ impressively entered at number four despite only being on sale for two days while Ellie Goulding’s ā€˜Anything Could Happen’ completed the top five.

Over on the album chart, Muse triumphed with their sixth studio album ā€˜The 2nd Law’ knocking Mumford & Sons’ ā€˜Babel’ from the summit.
