Thousand throughout Ayrshire are without power as the impact of Storm Éowyn is felt across the region.

Loss of electricity has been reported in parts of Troon, Largs, Kilwinning and Kilmarnock as well as other places.

Prestwick Airport has grounded all flights in and out of the travel hub until at least 5pm, when the situation will be reassessed.

Scotrail say there will be no services until at least 12pm on Saturday, admitting they won't know the full extent of any damage until the storm passes.

Reports of fallen trees, displaced roof tiles and debris has been widespread across Ayrshire.

Trees have been found on roads like Main Road, Prestwick, Roman Road in Ayr, Gibson Street in Kilmarnock and the A759 at Dundonald.

Pubs and restaurants have also chosen not to open on Friday, citing the welfare of staff and customers is a priority.

And the Scottish Prison Service has suspended all in-person visits to Kilmarnock Prison due to the weather warning.

As well as this, courts in Ayr and Kilmarnock aren't sitting today.
