Dozens of young people from across South Ayrshire have been recognised for their contributions to their communities at the Thriving Communities annual Youth Awards.

The ceremony, held at Ayr Town Hall last night, celebrated the achievements of local young people in 11 different categories, highlighting their dedication, hard work, and positive impact.

From volunteering to fundraising, diversity and the arts, the awards showcased a wide range of talents and efforts that are making a real difference in communities across the region.

Hundreds of young people from groups including Glendoune Youth Voice, South Ayrshire Youth Council, Lochside Drama group and more filled the hall - which was decorated in an 80s and 90s theme.

Clyde 1's very own journalist, Alice Faulkner, hosted the evening.

She said: "I am blown away by the commitment and passion showcased by the young people in South Ayrshire.

"I saw so many amazing projects - proving the future of the region is in good hands."

Grace Gibson-Meercroft is a young person who is part of the youth events planning group, which organised the entire event.

She said: "I never knew how many amazing achievements we have to celebrate in the small town of Ayr.

"It's crazy to see how many people are doing such amazing things - and it's great that we can highlight that with our planning group.

"Doing this has helped me grow up a lot."
