Pensioner knocked down by Audi in Ayr
The collision took place around 11.45am on Arthur Street and involved a grey Audi A1 where the driver failed to stop.
An 85-year-old man has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car in Ayr yesterday morning.
The collision took place around 11.45am on Arthur Street and involved a grey Audi A1.
He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where his injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.
The driver of the Audi failed to stop but was later traced and police arrested a 41-year-old man.
Sergeant Gordon Stewart, from the Irvine Road Policing Unit, said: “We know this incident took place in a busy area, with other pedestrians and drivers nearby.
"We would like to thank those who stopped to speak with police, but appeal for anyone else with information or possible dashcam footage from the scene to please come forward.
