Ayrshire mum missing after setting out to walk Rannoch Moor

People who were walking on Rannoch Moor at the weekend are being asked to share sightings of a missing mum from Ayrshire.

Joan Roberts, from Barrmill, hasn't been heard from since she set out to trek from Corrour to Fort William on Saturday morning.

She caught a train from Glengarnock just after 7.10am carrying her gear and tent in a green rucksack.

The 57 year old is an experienced hillwalker and has successfully completed the walk previously.

She is described as being around 5ft 1 in height with short brown hair.

When last seen Joanwas wearing a black fleece jacket, a green rucksack with a green waterproof cover, walking trousers and blue walking boots. She was also carrying a green tent and two walking poles, one black and the other blue.

Sergeant Meehan said: “Joan is an experienced walker but it is out of character for her not to be in touch with family and as time passes concerns are growing.

“I would ask anyone who has seen Joan or who has any information on her whereabouts to contact us.

“If you believe you have seen Joan or someone matching her description please get in touch.”
