Man given life sentence for killing 59-year-old in Ardrossan

A man has been jailed for life for killing a 59-year-old man in Ardrossan two years ago.

Terence Welsh attacked Stuart Kennedy who was 59 at a property on Montgomerie Street around 8.15pm on Tuesday September 10 2024.

Welsh was given a life sentence with a minimum of 19 years at the High Court in Edinburgh earlier.

Emergency services attended at Mr Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Inspector Jamie Carruth said: “My thoughts remain with Stuart’s family and friends at this difficult time. Nothing can make up for their loss, but I hope this outcome will bring them some form of comfort.

“This was a brutal attack and Welsh now faces the consequences of his despicable actions.

“We care deeply about violence and how it affects the communities we serve. We remain committed to addressing the harmful effects of violent crime, bring those response to justice and supporting victims.”
