Detectives renew appeal to find person responsible for attempted murder in Girvan
A man in dark clothes was seen running from the scene.
Detectives are renewing their appeal for information after an attempted murder in Girvan last year.
Lighter fluid was thrown at a block of flats in Whiteford at around 10.40pm on Saturday, 13th September 2025.
A member of the public rushed inside and helped a 21-year-old woman inside.
There were no injuries.
A male was seen running away from the scene towards Assel Place around the time of the fire.
He is described as being in his late teens and wearing dark-coloured clothing and a black baseball cap.
Detective Constable Stewart Gordon said: “Luckily no one was hurt but it could have had far worse consequences. This is a residential building with families living in it.
"The person responsible showed complete disregard for their safety by acting in such a reckless manner.
“We’ve conducted extensive enquiries however we’ve as yet been unable to identify the suspect.
“I’m appealing to the public for help to do that.
Did you see someone matching the description in the area around the time?
Or do you have any information which could help our investigation?
No matter how significant you believe that information is, or if you think we’ll already know, please come forward and report it.”
