Serious crash on A96 leaves bus driver injured
Police seek dash-cam footage and witnesses after the accident near Inverness Airport
Police are investigating a serious crash on the A96 which has left a bus driver seriously injured
Part of a load from a red DAF HGV came loose and struck a bus near Inverness Airport at 9:30pm on Friday, 5th December. The lorry did not stop at the scene but was later traced by officers.
The 56-year-old woman driving the bus was taken to hospital with serious injuries. No one else was hurt in the crash.
The road was closed for approximately five and a half hours while investigations were carried out, reopening around 2am on Saturday, 6th December 2025.
Sergeant Doug Scott said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the HGV and establish the full circumstances of the crash.
“We are appealing for any motorists who were in the area around the time of the crash and may have witnessed what happened to get in touch.
“I’d also ask that anyone with dash-cam footage review this and see if it has captured anything of significance that could assist with our investigation.”
