Rapper 'taunts' police after twice escaping custody in London

Drill rapper Daniel Boakye, known by his stage name dsavv, has posted a video online taunting the police after escaping custody twice from hospitals in London.

The 21-year-old fled Lewisham Hospital on Sunday afternoon while receiving medical treatment.

This followed an earlier escape on 10th February from prison guards at West Middlesex University Hospital, after which he was recaptured by Metropolitan Police officers the following day.

Jailed for six years

Boakye was sentenced to six years and five months in 2023 for participating in a robbery gang that threatened victims at knifepoint to steal £115,000 in cryptocurrency and use bank details for payments.

A video posted on Instagram shows Boakye performing in front of a screen displaying the Sun story related to his first escape, with lyrics referencing breaking out of jail similar to a character from the show Top Boy.

The song contains lines celebrating his exploits, mentioning being "fresh home," along with references to champagne and cannabis.

Search continues

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed their ongoing search for Boakye through a spokeswoman:

“We are searching for a 21-year-old man who absconded from Lewisham hospital at around 3.05pm on Sunday, February 15.

Daniel Boakye was in police custody at the hospital receiving medical treatment when he fled. Officers gave chase but could not detain Boakye before he left the building.

He is 21-years-old, black, of medium height and slim build. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket when he absconded.

Anyone who has any information about Boakye's whereabouts is asked to contact police on 999 quoting CAD4005/15FEB. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.

Police are urging the public to assist with information regarding Boakye's current location.
