An 87-year-old woman has died following a crash involving two cars on the A706 near Carriber Mill, Linlithgow.

The collision occurred around 6.55pm on Friday, 5th December 2025, and involved a red Honda Civic and a silver Volkswagen T-Roc. Emergency services attended, but the woman, a passenger in the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three others were seriously injured in the crash, including a 21-year-old man who was driving the Honda, as well as the 64-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen and a 63-year-old woman who was also a passenger in the Volkswagen. All three were taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for around eight hours to allow for investigations and reopened at 2am on Saturday, 6th December.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time, and our enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

“I am appealing to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and who may have seen what happened to contact officers.

“We are also keen to speak to the driver of a Range Rover who was driving along the road around the time of the crash.

“I’d also ask that anyone with dash-cam footage review this and see if it has captured anything of significance that could assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2701 of 5th December 2025.
