Motorbike rider "not seriously hurt" after crash in 'Globe Of Death'

A circus artist has had a lucky escape after a horror crash during a performance in Halifax.
Gandey's big top is currently set-up at Eureka! for the K-Pop Dragon Circus where last night's performance was briefly halted after an incident involving motorbike stunt riders inside the so-called ‘Thunderdome’ or ‘Globe of Death’.
Two riders collided as one bike looked to slow down whilst trying to do a 360° loop of the inside of the metal sphere cage. One was left on the floor apparently trapped beneath two motorbikes.
Stagehands had to remove all of the apparatus from the ring before the show was able to continue and conclude as shocked audience members, including many young children and families, watched on.
Fortunately, has been revealed that the performer from group The Gerlings has not been seriously hurt with circus bosses telling us he has a shoulder injury that has been checked out in hospital today.
Gandey Circuses have told us, "As you can appreciate this is the jeopardy of live circus thrill acts and although they and we, as the producers of the show, take every precaution to make the show safe, there will always be an element of risk."
Shows continue in Halifax until Sunday 4th October.
