Met officer charged as part of Charing Cross investigation
He remains suspended from duty.
A Met officer has been charged with perverting the course of justice as part of an investigation into alleged conduct at Charing Cross police station.
Sergeant Sadiq Al-Hasani, 37, attached to Central West Command Unit, was charged on Thursday, 13 August and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 30 September.
The officer was arrested for perverting the course of justice on 2 October 2025 following an alleged incident at Charing Cross Police Station that day.
Investigation following documentary
The charge relates to an allegation that Sgt Al-Hasani deliberately sought to discourage another officer from making a statement to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The IOPC had begun an investigation following the broadcast in October 2025 of BBC Panorama – Undercover in the Police.
The IOPC separately investigated Sgt Al-Hasini’s conduct and made a referral to the Crown Prosecution Service who agreed he should be charged.
Sgt Al-Hasani remains suspended from duty.
