Body of man recovered from sea on Brighton beach
Police continue efforts to identify the deceased man as enquiries remain ongoing near Madeira Drive
A body has been recovered from the sea in Brighton following reports of a man in the water.
Emergency services were called to Brighton beach in the early hours of this morning (3 June).
At around 6.40am, police, coastguard and ambulance crews attended the seafront near Sea Lanes on Madeira Drive after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man, Sussex Police said.
The body of a man was recovered from the sea. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Efforts to formally identify the man and notify his next of kin are continuing.
Police have confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing in the area and that members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence while investigations continue.
