Tony Docherty has been fired by Ross County – with assistant Callum Davidson also removed from his post.

The decision has been taken in the wake of an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Raith Rovers in Championship action yesterday, leaving the Staggies two points adrift at the bottom of the table.

In a short statement, Ross County said: “Ross County Football Club can confirm it has agreed by mutual consent to part ways with manager Tony Docherty and assistant manager Callum Davidson following Saturday’s heavy defeat.

“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to both Tony and Callum for their efforts during their time at the football club.

“We will provide a further update to supporters in due course.”

Former Dundee boss Docherty took over from Don Cowie at the end of August following a poor start to the season by Don Cowie, who couldn’t stop Couty from being relegated last season.

He won only two league games.
