A man has been charged in connection with a crash on the A1 at Berwick, which claimed the life of a 41-year-old woman.

Jade Duncan, from Dundee, was a passenger in a black Peugeot 407 Coupe when it left the road at the Morrisons roundabout, around 8.40pm on January 28th.

She has been described as the “funniest, bubbliest and kindest” mum, by her heartbroken family in a statement released in the days following the tragedy.

The car ended up down an embankment, near to the junction with the A1167 North Road.

A section of the A1 was closed between Berwick and Eyemouth for several hours, while emergency services responded to the incident and the wreckage was cleared.

The driver of the car - described at the time as a man in his 40s - was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Northumbria Police has now confirmed Sean Hogan has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, and causing death whilst disqualified.

The 46-year-old, of no fixed address, is scheduled to appear before Newcastle Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Wednesday).
