Arbroath teenager charged with murder of dad appears in court

The 19-year-old has been named as Croc Nicoll

A 19-year-old man charged with the murder of his dad in Arbroath has been named as Croc Nicoll.

Police were called to a property on Commerce Street around 7.40pm on Tuesday.

Tributes are being paid to 64-year-old dad Derek.

His teenage son made no plea in Forfar Sheriff Court and has been remanded in custody.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a man in Arbroath.

“Officers were called to a property in Commerce Street around 7.40pm on Tuesday, 11 February, 2025 following the death of a man, believed to be aged 64.

“Formal identification has still to take place.

“The 19-year-old was arrested on Tuesday 11 February and is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Friday, 14 February, 2025.”
