A9 crash: 20 year old man dies in Perthshire collision

Police say their thoughts are with his family and friends

A 20 year old man has died after a crash in Highland Perthshire on Friday morning.

The crash happened on the A9 northbound carriageway at around 11.50am on January 16, approximately 2.5 miles south of Dalwhinnie near Dalnaspidal.

It involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a recovery lorry, the 20 year old man was a passenger in the van and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 52 year old male driver was assessed for minor injuries at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service, no one else was injured.

The road was closed for around nine hours while investigations took place.

Police appeal

Sergeant Mike Guild, of the Tayside Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information or dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.

“You can call 101, quoting reference 1282 of 16 January.”
