Discovery Mast Climbers raise over £5,000 in Dundee
A huge well done to everyone who took on the incredible Discovery Mast Climb in Dundee for Cash for Kids Tayside & Fife.
On Sunday 31st May 2026, our brilliant supporters (plus a few of our staff!) climbed the historic rigging of the Captain Scott’s world-famous Antarctic ship RRS Discovery. They then zip-lined back down to Dundee’s stunning waterfront.
It was a big challenge, a proud moment, and an amazing day for a very important cause.
Not for the faint-hearted
The climb gave them a taste of the courage, skill and determination shown by the original RRS Discovery crew.
For many of our fundraisers, it meant facing fears, stepping outside their comfort zone and taking on something truly memorable. Claire Anderson, Cash for Kids Charity Manager for Tayside and Fife, said after making the climb: “I’m so glad I took part. I really enjoyed the experience, even though I’m terrified of heights! It was a huge personal challenge, but the support from everyone was amazing, and it was brilliant to climb alongside so many fantastic fundraisers.”
Over £5,000 raised for local children
So far, the Discovery Mast Climb team have raised an amazing £5,185 for Cash for Kids Tayside & Fife, with sponsorship still coming in.
This will help support children and families across the local area. Every donation makes a real difference to young people who are facing poverty, illness, disability or difficult life challenges.
We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part, donated, cheered people on and helped make the day so special. We also want to thank One Man & His Nikon for coming along and capturing content from the day. Keep an eye on our Cash for Kids Tayside & Fife social channels, as we’ll be sharing more very soon!
A big thank you also goes to Zone Events for helping make the challenge happen.
Claire added: “A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Discovery Mast Climb Challenge. Not only did participants show incredible courage and determination, but together they raised over £5,000 for local children. Every pound raised will help us continue providing vital support to children and families across our community. We are so grateful for your support."
