Playful Gardens

So many children having so much fun!

Playful Gardens is an initiative run collaboratively between Dundee Botanic Gardens, ScrapAntics, DCA and Tayside CAHMS. The project allows for safe, inclusive play to benefit children of all backgrounds and circumstances, providing a lifeline for parents who struggle to find play opportunities that meet their children's needs.

We were able to support Playful Gardens as part of our grant rounds in 2025, helping fund the sessions to run once a month on a Saturday throughout the year. This allowed for children with neurodevelopmental disorders to have the freedom to play and enjoy themselves safely through a range of activities and different types of play available.

We were lucky enough to be invited along to one of the sessions and see first hand how beneficial it is for the children who take part in these sessions. With such a diverse range of activities available, lots of different forms of sensory fun, quite spaces for children to regulate their emotions, and a safe enclosed environment ensuring the children's safety, it was amazing to see such a wonderful project in action, and we're delighted that we were able to support it.
