Teenage boy sentenced for stabbing teacher in school
A jury found the boy not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to four and a half years’ youth detention at Swansea Crown Court for stabbing a teacher in the head.
The pupil, then aged 15, went into a classroom at Milford Haven Comprehensive School on 5 February 2026 where the female teacher was and asked her to check some of his work.
He then took a kitchen knife out of his bag and stabbed the teacher causing a wound to the top of her head.
The teacher also sustained cuts to her hands as she tried to grab the knife to prevent it being used again and managed to remove the knife from the boy’s grasp.
The boy ran off and was arrested by police later that afternoon.
At Court, the teenager who cannot be named due to his age, admitted possession of a blade on school premises but denied the attempted murder of the teacher.
Having heard all the evidence in the case, a jury found the boy not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Jonathan Pritchard of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “This was a shocking display of violence on a teacher doing their job.
“Knives cause terrible injuries which can often end in fatal consequences.
“The teacher showed great courage in what must have been a terrifying incident.
“The strong evidence presented by the Crown Prosecution Service resulted in these convictions, which we hope provide some comfort to the victim of this awful attack.”
The boy was sentenced on 3 September 2026 to to four and a half years’ youth detention.
