Teachers at the Great Ormond Street and UCLH School will stage fresh strikes next month in a long-running dispute over the dismissal of their union rep.

The National Education Union (NEU) said the dismissal of Kate Williams was a “targeted attack”.

Teachers at the school have taken 24 days of strike action since September and will walk out again on May 6 and 7.

An NEU officer said: “We believe the disciplinary process against Kate has been a targeted and unjust attack on her as a trade union rep for standing up against bullying management.

“This is a shameful attempt to undermine union organising. The NEU will be fighting for her reinstatement.”

A spokesperson for the governing body said: “The reporting on this does not cover the full facts of the situation. While we would never be able to discuss an individual case, we can assure you the correct process is being followed.

“We are committed to ensuring that all staff at the school are safe, whilst ensuring that all matters are investigated thoroughly, independently and fairly, in line with internal processes.

“We are unable to comment further on these confidential matters at this time.”
