A Sunderland couple have been jailed for multiple sexual offences against two children following a thorough police investigation.

Kieron Lewis, 33, and Rebecca Bowey, 25, both of Moore Crescent South, Houghton-le-Spring, committed various offences against a boy and a girl, according to Northumbria Police.

The case was handled by Northumbria Police's POLIT department, a team dedicated to protecting vulnerable children. They began their investigation into Lewis and Bowey in October 2022 after acting on intelligence.

The couple pleaded guilty to several offences at Newcastle Crown Court in November 2025.

On 20th February, the same court sentenced Lewis to 4 years and 10 months in prison, while Bowey received a sentence of 4 years and 1 month.

Detective Constable David Laybourne of Northumbria Police expressed gratitude towards the victims, saying: “First and foremost, I would like to thank the victims for their bravery and courage.

“Thanks to their cooperation and the incredible strength they have shown throughout the course of our investigation, two dangerous predators are now behind bars.”

Lewis faced charges including making indecent images of children, possessing prohibited images, sexual exploitation of a child, and voyeurism.

Bowey was charged with inciting a child to engage in a sexual act and causing a child to watch a sexual act.

Detective Constable Laybourne added: “Protecting and supporting vulnerable victims is our top priority as a Force, and we will continue to do everything in our power to ensure offenders such as Lewis and Bowey are brought before the courts.”
