Fire crews battle blaze at Jimmy Savile's former Highland home
Part of the property was engulfed in flames.
A fire has broken out at the former home of paedophile Jimmy Savile in the Scottish Highlands.
Emergency services were called to a blaze at a shed on the property between Tyndrum and Ballachulish Bridge at around 5.40pm yesterday.
The disgraced broadcaster lived in the remote Allt Na Reigh cottage between 1998 and 2011.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were first alerted to the incident at 5:36pm and have three pumps in attendance.”
Police Scotland confirmed a large section of road was closed.
A spokesperson said: “The A82 is closed in both directions between Tyndrum and Ballachulish Bridge following a report of a fire at a property around 5.40pm on Saturday, 8 February, 2025.
“Emergency services are in attendance and drivers are asked to avoid the area.”
The A82 was re-opened around 9:15pm.
The cottage is one of few properties in the scenic area and has been repeatedly vandalised since Savile’s victims came forward after his death in 2011.
The TV presenter was one of the most prolific sex offenders in UK criminal history.
The site's new owner, the family of retail business boss Harris Aslam, was granted permission last year to demolish the building and replace it with a new four-bedroom home.
