Queen's Brian May joins William Shatner's heavy metal album

Queen guitarist Brian May has been unveiled as the latest big-name guest on William Shatner’s fervently awaited heavy metal album.
A perfect fit for the 95-year-old Star Trek legend’s project, alongside being a rock icon, Sir Brian May is a lifelong space aficionado who received a PhD in astrophysics in 2007.
Brian and William Shatner also hold the prestigious honour of having an asteroid named after them - Asteroid 52665 Brianmay and Asteroid 31556 Shatner.
Full details of the collaboration are yet to be revealed; however, Cleopatra Records have confirmed that Brian will lend his trademark Red Special guitar sound to the song, and he’ll also be on mixing duties.
Shatner’s as-yet-untitled heavy metal album already features an array of heavy music titans including Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Scorpions/Motörhead's Mikkey Dee, ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, Zakk Wylde and Ritchie Blackmore.
The project is being driven by a heavyweight production team led by Adam Hamilton (L.A. Guns, Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Brian Perera, President of Cleopatra Records, with additional production from Derek Hughes (Nuclear Messiah) Marcus Nand, and Jürgen Engler of Die Krupps.
William Shatner will perform material from the album at Riot Fest in Chicago on the weekend of 18th and 20th September 2026, and he also recently let slip that he’s playing Coachella in 2027.
