Paddy Considine says he'd trade his acting career to headline Download Festival

Esteemed English actor and rock musician Paddy Considine says he’d trade his acting career to headline Download Festival with his band Riding the Low.

Ahead of Riding the Low’s performance on The Dogtooth Stage at Download Festival, singer Paddy Considine was guest on a live edition of Kerrang! Radio’s show The Download at District X.

Opening the chat, The Download host Alex Baker mentioned the many accolades Paddy has won as an actor, then he asked the “evil question”, “would you trade it all in to headline Download Festival?”

“Yeah, definitely,” Paddy replied. “Before acting it was music. When I was a little kid, that’s what triggered me even as a little kid, was seeing Adam and the Ants on Top of the Pops. I was going, ‘I wanna do that!’.

“I played in bands when I was a teenager and through college in my twenties. But I didn’t start writing songs myself until I was about 28/29 years old. I just started writing these songs and went ‘I want to get a band together’. We’ve been going 20 years next year, which is incredible because we’ve got absolutely f---ing nowhere! I always say to people ‘it’s a lot of hard work to get nowhere in music’. But we do it because we absolute love it.

“People look at it as a hobby and go ‘is it your hobby?’ It's like, I put too much time and effort into it. When I’m not acting, I’m full time doing the band. So, yeah, I’d switch it up.”
