Metallica donated £20,000 each to a Glasgow foodbank and domestic abuse charity following their record-breaking concert at Barclays Hampden Park last week.
The heavy metal titans made the generous pledges to Glasgow SE Foodbank and Hemat Gryffe Women’s Aid via their charity, the All Within My Hands Foundation.
All Within My Hands said: ‘Glasgow SE Foodbank provides emergency food and practical support for people left without money to live on. 6,500 residents will need to be fed this year, 40% of whom are children.
‘Our donation will help cover the cost of food and other essentials for those in need. Special thanks to the Metallica Family who stopped by to volunteer!
‘Hemat Gryffe Women’s Aid supports women, children, and young people affected by domestic abuse, forced marriage, and honour-based abuse by providing culturally sensitive bilingual crisis, community, and refuge accommodation to asian, black, and minority ethnic communities in Glasgow.
‘Our donation will strengthen their capacity to support women from diverse communities across Glasgow.’
Glasgow SE Foodbank said: ‘We're absolutely delighted to share that Glasgow Se Foodbank has received a £20,000 donation from @allwithinmyhandsfoundation following @metallica's record-breaking Hampden Park gig in Glasgow last week.
‘This support comes at a vital time for our charity. While we would normally expect demand to ease over the summer, we're currently supporting around 33% more people than we were at this time last year.
‘A huge thank you to All Within My Hands, Metallica, Live Nation and everyone involved in making this possible. We'd also like to thank the fantastic group of Metallica fans who volunteered with us ahead of the concert - your hard work made a huge difference at this time.’
Brij Gandhi MBE, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Hemat Gryffe Women's Aid, said: "We are deeply grateful to Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation for their donation.
"For 45 years, Hemat Gryffe Womens Aid have supported women experiencing domestic abuse, forced marriage and honour-based abuse primarily from Asian, Black and Minority Ethnic communities.
"The staff team and trustees are appreciative of such a significant act of generosity.
"We were delighted to learn that Metallica is also celebrating 45 years as one of the world's most iconic rock bands. It's wonderful that, in a landmark year for both Hemat Gryffe Women's Aid and Metallica, the Foundation has chosen to invest in our work."
As reported earlier this week, Metallica gifted £20,000 to Cardiff Foodbank following their massive Principality Stadium concert, the biggest-ever live show held in Wales.
All Within My Hands also donated to £20,000 to the Cardiff-based charity Llamau, which aims to end homelessness for young people and women in Wales.
“Our £20K grant will help them continue these efforts by responding quickly, supporting people holistically, and ensuring that those facing some of life’s hardest moments are not facing them alone,” Metallica said.
Founded in February 2017, the All Within My Hands Foundation’s aim is to create sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.
Metallica always donate to local charities while on tour via the charity, often not making the donations public.
The band have also made substantial standalone pledges to relief efforts following catastrophes like the Los Angeles wildfires in 2025, the Turkey-Syria earthquake in 2023 and Australian bushfires in 2020.
The UK leg of the M72 World Tour concludes with a No Repeat Weekend at London Stadium on Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th July.
