Skindred are Number 1 at midweek stage on UK album chart
They're locked in a close chart race
Skindred’s new album ‘You Got This’ is currently sitting very pretty at Number 1 at the midweek stage on this week’s Official Album Chart.
The Welsh ragga metallers narrowly missed out on securing Number 1 by just 150 copies with their 2023 album ‘Smile’, so they’re hoping to do one better with ‘You Got This’ and secure the coveted top spot on Friday (24th April).
Despite the early lead, singer Jessie Ware is breathing down Skindred’s neck with her new record ‘Superbloom’ at Number 2, while former One Direction star Zayn Malik is at No.3 with his latest effort ‘Konnakol’.
TOMORA, a collaboration between The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands and singer-songwriter AURORA, are also in the race at No.4.
Skindred singer Benji Webbe says: “If they can put a man on the moon hopefully there should be some hope for putting a Ragga Metal band from Newport to number 1 in the UK album charts.
“The love we have been receiving for our new album has been amazing. Thank you to everyone who has gone out and bought a copy.”
Featuring the Planet Rock playlisted anthem ‘Can I Get A’, ‘You Got This’ is Skindred’s ninth studio album.
The band celebrated its release this week by performing ‘You Got This’, ‘That’s My Jam’ and a cover of Eddy Grant’s ‘Electric Avenue’ exclusively in session for Planet Rock.
