Jack White pays tribute to Dolly Parton with emotional 'Jolene' performance in London

Jack White performed Dolly Parton's classic song 'Jolene' in London last night (25th August) just hours after news broke of the country legend's passing.
Dolly Parton died aged 80 in Nashville on Tuesday following a brief battle with cancer, and stars from across the music world have been paying tribute to the country icon.
Jack White shared a photo of a 19-year-old Dolly with a beehive hairstyle on social media and simply wrote ‘Instant Sainthood’.
Shortly afterwards, Jack White took to the stage at London Eventim Apollo where he played ‘Jolene’ for the first time in 19 years four songs into his set in honour of Dolly.

The White Stripes recorded a studio version of ‘Jolene’ as the B-side to their ‘Hello Operator’ single back in 2000.
A live recording from Blackpool Empress Ballroom titled ‘Jolene (Live Under Blackpool Lights)’ was released as a standalone single in 2004 and it charted at Number 16 in the UK.
