Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill was forced to miss his first concert since joining the band 56 years ago on Monday night (21st September).

A couple of hours before they were due to hit the stage at London Eventim Apollo, Judas Priest announced that 74-year-old Ian “has a badly damaged tendon in his left arm so unfortunately he won’t be able to play at our Hammersmith Apollo Eventim show.”

Revealing Ian’s replacement, the metal legends continued: “Our good friend Davey Rimmer (Uriah Heep) will be playing with us so the show will go on…

“Ian sends his grateful appreciation to our fans for your caring and understanding…”

The longest-serving member of Judas Priest, Ian Hill joined the band in 1970, and, alongside guitarist Glenn Tipton, he has played on all the band’s studio albums.

He has been a constant at live shows, performing at almost 3,000 concerts with the legendary band.

Judas Priest’s London concert was the concluding show of their 2026 Faithkeepers European tour. Their next scheduled live performance takes place at Tuska Festival in Helsinki, Finland in July 2027.
