Geezer Butler joined forces with Jack Black’s Black Sabbath covers band, Jack Sabbath, for a thunderous rendition of ‘War Pigs’ over the weekend.

The stellar performance happened at Tom Morello’s Power To The People all-day event on Saturday (3rd October) at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.

Other artists on the line-up included Foo Fighters, System of a Down’s Serj Tankien, Dave Matthews, The Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen, Joan Baez, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello himself.

Under the banner of Jack Sabbath, Jack Black took to the stage wearing a tassel-tastic Ozzy Osbourne top that echoed The Prince of Darkness’ mid-70s stage attire.

The Tenacious D rocker’s youthful band consisted of Tom Morrello’s son Roman on guitar, Japanese prodigy Yoyoka Soma playing drums, Scott Ian’s son Revel on bass, and Hugo Weiss on keyboards.

After performing Ozzy’s ‘Mr. Crowley’ and Sabbath’s ‘The Wizard’, Geezer Butler walked on stage to play bass alongside Jack Sabbath on Sabbath’s anti-war anthem ‘War Pigs’, which he wrote the seminal lyrics for 56 years ago.

Footage of the ‘War Pigs’ performance swiftly went viral on social media afterwards, which you can watch here:

Explaining the ethos behind his event, Tom Morello said: "The Power to the People festival is about freedom, justice, equality and rock'n'roll.

"It’s about the power everyday human beings have when they come together through music, art, community, and action. We’re honoured to bring this incredible lineup to the DC area for a day that celebrates the spirit of activism, creativity, and hope."
