Deep Purple have premiered the second taster of their new album ‘SPLAT!’, the devilishly good ‘Diablo’.

Following hot on the heels of the Planet Rock playlisted anthem ‘Arrogant Boy’, ‘Diablo’ is yet another classic Deep Purple rocker that features additional guitar from country icon Keith Urban.

As the title suggests, ‘Diablo’ takes us into the fiery bowels of hell where a heroine crosses a river, jumps into a fighting pit, celebrates with a bucket of wine, falls into the glitter pool and somehow makes it back home to tell the tale.

Ian Gillan says of Diablo: “It is all about taking chances. Just for once in your life, do something exciting, step out of the mould, take that curious bend in the road instead of sticking to the highway and do something that will, for the rest of your life, either guide or warn you.”

The official music video for ‘Diablo’ will premiere at 7pm UK time on Sunday 7th June on earMUSIC's YouTube channel. Roger Glover will be live in the chat during the premiere.

Billed as Deep Purple’s heaviest album in decades, ‘SPLAT!’ features 13 songs recorded by the current Deep Purple line-up of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Simon McBride alongside esteemed producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper).

The album was laid down with the band playing together in the studio – the way Deep Purple have always recorded – and, according to frontman Ian Gillan, the material harks back to their glory years in the late 60s and early 70s.

Ian explains: “Where we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very ‘now’ version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies.

"I have to say, now we are very much back in with material that is compatible with 'Highway Star', 'Smoke on the Water', 'Lazy' – the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from ‘69 to ‘73."

Following the release of ‘SPLAT!’, Deep Purple embark on a November 2026 UK tour visiting Newcastle Utilita Arena, Glasgow OVO Hydro, Birmingham bp pulse LIVE and Manchester AO Arena plus sold out shows at London Eventim Apollo and London Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets to Deep Purple's arena dates are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
