David Coverdale announces he's leaving social media
Following his recent retirement
Whitesnake and Deep Purple legend David Coverdale has announced he’s “withdrawing” from social so he can full enjoy his retirement.
The 74-year-old Saltburn-by-the-Sea rocker took to social media one final time today (11th December) to tell fans that his 20-year interaction with them online is ending.
The announcement comes four weeks after Coverdale said it was time to “hang up my rock n’ roll platform shoes and my skintight jeans” and retire from the music industry.
Coverdale’s light-hearted, enthusiastic and fun social media posts over the years have often included memes, lashings of emojis, and plenty of exclamation marks.
He wrote today: "Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls, Brothers & Sisters Of The Snake… After over 20 fun-filled years of interacting online with all of you Snake People, first with the BBS on whitesnake.com & then onto Twitter ( those were the days ) Facebook, Instagram & Tik Tok…It's been a fab ride, but, along with the over 50 years in the music business, it's time for me to withdraw from social media to fully engage in sweet reflection on my career & my life & enjoy my retirement with my friends & my Beloved Family…

After playing dates across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe in May and June 2022, Whitesnake abandoned the rest of the European tour early due to David Coverdale’s “continuing health challenges” following an “infection of the sinus and trachea.”
A month after the European tour was axed, Whitesnake cancelled their planned North American tour as special guests to Scorpions because of Coverdale’s “persistent upper respiratory infection.”
David Coverdale hasn't performed live since, with all his Whitesnake band mates pursuing their other musical ventures.
