Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson has revealed that he recorded 16 songs for his new solo album in just 21 days earlier this year.
Bruce released his last solo album, the critically lauded ‘The Mandrake Project’, in March 2024 almost two decades after his previous record, ‘Tyranny of Souls’.
Fans fortunately won’t have anywhere near as long to wait for Bruce’s eighth solo effort, which he recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California in January and February.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, 67-year-old Bruce reflected on his boundless energy, saying: “I got two metal hips, I got a busted Achilles I had stitched back together five years ago, various contusions and lumps and bumps. But I’m still running around like a lunatic, and the voice is doing great.
“I just finished a solo record: We did 16 tracks in 21 days, all 100 percent live. It’s like the anti-AI generation.”
Bruce Dickinson has previously revealed that he hopes to release the album in 2027 when Iron Maiden are taking a break from touring.
He also confirmed to Charlie Kendall’s Metalshop that his touring band of keyboardist Mistheria, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan, and guitarists Chris Declercq and Philip Naslund, all play on the album.
In February, Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser shared photos of himself with Bruce at Studio 606 and he revealed that he plays percussion on the record.
Sepultura vocalist Derrick Green also shared pictures with Bruce, while mixing and mastering engineer Brendan Duffey, who also worked on 2024’s ‘The Mandrake Project’, featured in some of the images.
In August 2025, Bruce told Metal Hammer that his new solo material will include "bone-crushingly heavy" songs and tracks that "are just like tugging at the heartstrings".
"If it's heavy, it's heavy," Bruce explained. "But if it just happens to be acoustic, it's acoustic. That's the deal, you know? It's whatever the song dictates, whatever the story is you're trying to tell, but it's really exciting. I'm so stoked about these tracks. I played the demos to a few people in the record label and stuff, and everybody is like, 'Wow!'"
