Alter Bridge have announced the launch of a brand new rock festival in Wales.

The inaugural Blackbird Festival will take place on Saturday 27th June 2026, in the grounds of Cardiff Castle.

Joining Alter Bridge as special guests will be Newport’s own alt-metal heroes Skindred.

The rest of the bill also has a distinctly Welsh flavour, with powerhouse trio Florence Black, the fast-rising Cardinal Black and one more act yet to be announced.

Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy said: “We realised we haven’t played Wales in over seven years.

“To make up for lost time, we thought it would be cool to do something extra special. So with that said, we are stoked to announce The Blackbird Festival.

“Not only does this commemorate 20-plus years of being a band, but it’s also a way to show our appreciation for the fans in Wales who’ve patiently waited for our return.”

Tickets for the event go on general sale from 9:30am Friday 22nd August via blackbirdfest.com.
