Gary Glitter has been charged in connection with multiple historical sexual offences.

The Crown Prosecution Service revealed that the 82-year-old from Banbury in Oxfordshire faces one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14.

These charges against the former pop star, who's real name is Paul Gadd, relate to alleged incidents occurring between 1978 and 1981.

Bethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor at CPS London, confirmed the decision, stating, “The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute Paul Gadd with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14.”

The allegations emerged from a woman, detailing a period of abuse.
