Frankie Dettori in hospital after crash in Newmarket

The retired jockey is thanking emergency services for their support

Racing legend Frankie Dettori is in hospital after a crash in Newmarket.

The crash happened yesterday evening (Wednesday 1st Juy) when another vehicle collided with the rear passenger side of Dettori's car, causing it to spin and flip.

Dettori sustained several broken ribs and a broken thumb and remains in hospital where further scans and observations are being conducted.

In a statement issued by H Talent Management, Dettori expressed gratitude towards the emergency services and medical staff aiding his recovery.

“Frankie would like to thank the emergency services who attended the scene, together with the doctors, nurses and wider medical team caring for him,” the statement said.
