A woman has died following a road crash in Aberdeenshire earlier this month.

81-year-old Alma Duguid from Fraserburgh was involved in a collision between a blue Volkswagen T-roc and a white Suziki Ignis on the A952 near Toll of Birness, just after one pm on New Year's Day.

Two other women suffered serious injuries in the accident. Police are continuing their appeal for information.

Sergeant Sarah Ritchie from the North East Road Policing Unit said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Alma, who have requested privacy at this time. Our enquiries remain ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash to please contact us.

“We’d also ask anyone who may have dash-cam footage of relevance to come forward as this may be significant in assisting with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 2238 of Thursday, 1 January, 2026.
