Stewart Milne steps down from Aberdeen FC board after 32 years

Former chairman leaves an enduring legacy at Pittodrie

Stewart Milne has stepped down from the board of Aberdeen FC after an impressive 32 years, marking the end of an era for the club he has passionately supported.

Milne, an Aberdeenshire businessman and lifelong fan, initially joined the Board of Directors on 14th June 1994.

He progressed to vice-chairman in 1997 and then became chairman the following year, a position he held until December 2019.

Dave Cormack succeeded him as chairman, with Milne remaining as a non-executive director since that transition.

Tribute from Current Chairman

Cormack expressed gratitude for Milne’s dedication, saying: “After more than three decades of service to the Club that he loves, Stewart has decided it’s time to step down from the Board."

Cormack acknowledged Milne's strong leadership and dedication during challenging times, adding: "We will be honouring Stewart and his family with a fitting tribute in due course."

Stewart Milne Reflects on His Service

Reflecting on his tenure, Milne said: “It’s been a real honour and privilege to have served Aberdeen for so long. During my tenure, there have been many highs and lows but, despite some very challenging and testing times, we’ve always found a way through."

Milne highlighted milestones such as winning the Scottish Cup and the development of Cormack Park, as well as increased commercial initiatives.

He voiced confidence in the club's future and expressed his intention to remain a committed supporter, stating: "I may be stepping down from the Board but I’m not stepping away from Pittodrie and will enjoy attending as many games as possible."
