Last updated 29th Apr 2025
The SPFL say there will be no plans for reconstruction for the Scottish Premiership.
There have been many calls for an expanded top flight with the debate sparking again in recent weeks.
An increase in teams has garnered a lot of traction from supporters.
However, the league's governing body have revealed it will not be happening.
The SPFL's Competitions Working Group agreed at a meeting on Tuesday that they see "no reasonable prospect" of achieving a consensus for a new format.
Potential changes to the lower leagues are still a possbility.
A statement read: "The SPFL’s Competitions Working Group met on 29 April to discuss the possibility of league restructuring.
"It was agreed that there was no reasonable prospect of achieving consensus around a new format for the William Hill Premiership.
"There was, however, broad agreement around potential changes to the William Hill Championship, League 1 and League 2.
"These will be worked up with a view to conducting a consultation with clubs and other stakeholders."
