Police have launched a manhunt after a man died in Aberdeen in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services scrambled to the Pennan Road area around 12.35am after reports of a 24-year-old man being seriously injured.

The victim was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. Police say his next of kin are aware

They also say they have a positive line of inquiry as they try to find out what happened and the area has been sealed off as forensic teams scour the scene.

Detective Inspector James Callander from the Major Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“Extensive enquiries are being carried out by officers and specialist resources as we continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident, however we are following a positive line of enquiry.”

Chief Inspector Darren Bruce, Local Area Commander said: “We understand this will be a concerning incident for the local community.

“There will be a continued visible police presence in the area and anyone with concerns can speak to these officers.”
