Aberdeen Beach cordoned off after suspected unexploded device found

Aberdeen beach has been taped off by police after a suspected unexploded ordnance was found this morning.
Officers were called to the scene at around 9.25am, and the bomb disposal unit has been informed.
Police say a cordon will remain in place and the public's being told to avoid the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.25am on Tuesday, 16 June, 2026, we were called to a report of a suspected unexploded ordnance on Aberdeen Beach, Esplanade, Aberdeen.
Officers are at the scene and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team have been made aware.
A cordon is in place and the public is advised to avoid the area.”
