Strike action has been announced by security staff at Aberdeen Airport after a pay dispute escalated.

Hold baggage screening workers employed by ICTS will begin 14 days of walkouts on Monday July 6th, with more to follow throughout the month and into August.

Unite industrial officer, Paula Buchan said: "ICTS would rather cause massive disruption at the airport than positively work with Unite to resolve this dispute.

Strike action will cause significant delays at Aberdeen Airport. ICTS still has time to return to talks with an offer workers can accept. A failure to do so will result in significant airport disruption."

A spokesperson for Aberdeen International Airport said: "We have engaged with ICTS, and robust contingency measures will be in place, with no impact expected, but we strongly urge everyone involved to continue working towards a constructive resolution."

We've asked ICTS for comment.

Full strike schedule: July - 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 28th and 30th followed by 1st August.
