Your ultimate guide to season 2 of Netflix thriller Black Doves

Starring the likes of Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire, thriller drama Black Doves proved a huge hit for Netflix when it first arrived in December 2024.

After teasing a potential second series, it's now been confirmed, with bosses confirming the series two cast, the start date, and dropping the official trailer!

Will there be a second series of Black Doves?

Netflix teased the future of Black Doves with a video in December last year, showing Keira and Ben in character, meeting at a bar which is decked out with festive decorations.

She greets him with "Merry Christmas", to which he replies "Hello darling", before giving her a kiss on the cheek.

As they toast using their champagne glasses, Keira says: "Here’s to Black Doves season one," before Ben replies: "Don’t forget season two, darling."

The news was then confirmed on Tuesday 18th November 2025, with Netflix confirming casting details.

When was filming?

Production took place in and around London earlier this year.

When is it out?

Netflix has now confirmed series two of Black Doves will arrive on 5th November 2026.

What will it be about?

Netflix say of series two: 'Helen is still betraying her nation’s secrets to the covert organization she serves, the Black Doves. But after the misadventures of last Christmas, and with her husband, Wallace, preparing to become prime minister, she’s walking a more treacherous line than ever.

'As Helen’s enigmatic handler, Mrs. Reed is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, Helen is reunited with her best friend, Sam. The once high-end triggerman is now reduced to lonely drinks in Soho bars and low-rate hits. As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponized, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything.'

Is there a trailer?

Yes! The official trailer was released on Thursday 24th November, showing that Helen's husband Wallace Webb is now the Prime Minister.

Who is in the cast?

Keira Knightley, Sarah Lancashire and Ben Whishaw will all return for the second series, as well as Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey, and Molly Chesworth.

Netflix have announced seven new cast members for the second series, including One Day actress Ambika Mod, Sam Riley, and Babou Ceesay.
