What has Benson said about the album?
Ahead of the release, Benson joined Hits Radio Breakfast to talk about his second album, revealing all the goss to Fleur East, Will Best, and James Barr. He admitted he wrote the full album in TWO WEEKS — and said his favourite song on the album is 'Mr Electric Blue', which was written as a touching tribute to his dad.

Who is 'Mr Electric Blue'?
Benson told Hits Radio: "My dad is Mr Electric Blue! And I think I'm very fortunate to have extremely supportive and wonderful parents, who just love what I do.
"But it's more just about anybody who's had a really big influence on inspiring you and having you become who you are.
"My dad growing up was my ultimate superhero. He's such a good dude and has taught me so many great things. I'm just kind of in awe of what he is and what he has stood for and how he treats my mum and how he treats my sisters, and how he treats me."
The lyrics include: 'He's a man's man / A good, hard-working American / But he ain't the guy / You'd wanna fight, he'll make you bite the dirt / And he said, "Watch the way you talk to me / If you want to keep your two front teeth".'
'Ooh, Mr. Electric Blue / I wanna dance like you / How did you get so cool? / (You got it, uh, uh, you've got it) / And, oh, you got electric soul / You let the good times roll / Mr. Electric Blue / (You got it, uh, uh, you've got it).'
Benson went on to tell Fleur, Will and James that his trademark flip even came from his dad — who can still do it more than two decades after teaching a three-year-old Benson his moves.
What is the meaning of the album title?
While the title is taken from the album track of (almost) the same name — 'Young American Heart' — Benson has previously spoken about taking inspiration from the genres of Americana and classic pop-rock music for the record.
The title 'American Heart' was reportedly chosen to reflect the retro nostalgia that the album portrays through its songs.

To complement its patriotic title, it's no surprise the album cover shows Benson draped in an American flag. Check it out below...
