Hits Radio Live artist Tom Grennan joined Tom Green for a chat on Hits Radio, where they chatted about his latest release, 'Wrapped In Gold', becoming friends with Robbie Williams and the 'museum' his mum has dedicated to him.

Tom joined us ahead of Hits Radio Live, which takes place in November. The 'Lionheart (Fearless)' singer said he was super excited to be returning to the stage with us next month.

Speaking about the experience, he said: "It's just like for me, seeing everybody in the crowd and just having, like you say, 20 minutes on stage and just playing all them songs that people know, the energy in the building is always electric.

"And it's always just like a run up to Christmas kind of thing. And everybody's excited for that. Everybody's letting loose a little bit. You know what I mean? So it's good."

While Hits Radio Live Manchester has now sold out, tickets are still available for Hits Radio Live Birmingham. Take a look through the full line-up and ticket details.

The inspiration behind 'Wrapped In Gold'

Tom joined us on the day that he released his latest song called 'Wrapped In Gold', and despite many, including Tom Green thinking it might be about money and success, Tom Grennan revealed the heartwarming inspiration behind it.

After welcoming his first child last year, Tom is now returning to music with his new song 'Wrapped In Gold' and he explained what it felt like now that he's a dad.

"I had about four or five months with my daughter like when she was born, obviously, but you know. She obviously opened up another like chamber, another area of my heart," he said.

Going on to say: "So I was like, I need to write and get things off my mind. And that's what I did.

"By the way, I'm not here trying to say this whole new record is about my daughter - it's not."

However he went on to reveal: "It's more about like understanding what time is and understanding whatever storm is in front of me, it's going to pass and I'm going to be anchored on my boat and I'm going to see it all and let that happen."

Getting to know Robbie Williams

When Tom Green compared 'Wrapped In Gold' to Robbie Williams' sound, Tom Grennan took that as a compliment, saying: "He's my icon, man."

He continued: "Yeah, it's weird when you sit next to him and (he's) like Robbie Williams, when I say he's my icon, I'm like, he's the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time)."

Tom went on to reveal that he has got to know Robbie better over the years with his involvement with Soccer Aid, explaining: "Robbie Williams is a big part of Soccer Aid, obviously. So when the first time I like meet him and he like sits down, I'm trying to act cool and that. But he's such a lovely man."

Tom Grennan's mum has a 'museum' of memorabilia

Recently there was a news story about someone selling a big 'hamster ball', taken from one of Tom's music videos. With the ball on Facebook Marketplace for £4k, Tom Green asked if Tom had taken anything from his videos, which he's kept around the house.

Revealing he doesn't have much around his house, the singer did reveal that his mum's house is like a museum to him, admitting: "Well, you walk in and there's like so much, there's records on the wall, little memorabilia bits. It's like a shrine to me. I always say, have I died? Have I died in here or something?"
