Previously unreleased Prince song released on 10th anniversary of his death
'With This Tear' was originally recorded in 1991
Tuesday 21st April 2026 marks the 10th anniversary since music legend Prince passed away at the age of 57. And to commemorate the occasion a new song by the singer has been released.
'With This Tear' was originally recorded by Prince in 1991, and later offered to Celine Dion - who recorded it in 1992. The song has been released along with a music video which features the late singer saying: "When I was younger I always said that one day I was going to play all kinds of music, and not be judged by the colour of my skin, but by the quality of my work. Hopefully that will continue."
The black and white video then shows childhood photos and videos of the singer, including some from his early years in the studio, playing guitar and piano. It also includes footage from the 1970 Minneapolis teachers' strike, where Prince can be seen talking to a news reporter. Watch it in full below...

The description for the song's music video says: '“With This Tear” is a previously unreleased studio recording from Prince’s legendary vault. Recorded in November 1991 at Paisley Park, the track has been newly mixed and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer/producer Chris James (Frank Ocean, Miguel, Janelle Monáe), a longtime Prince collaborator ('HITnRUN Phase Two', 'Art Official Age', 'Plectrumelectrum') and features Prince producing, arranging, composing, and performing all instrumentation.
'Shortly after its creation, Prince offered the song to Céline Dion, who recorded her own version in 1992. This track is the beginning of a number of unreleased Prince recordings scheduled for release this year, as part of a never before released Prince album project.'
