Since Olivia Rodrigo wrapped her epic 'guts' world tour in 2025, her fans have been desperately awaiting her third album, which has finally arrived! Ahead of its release, the singer released 'drop dead', 'the cure', and 'what's wrong with me' with Robert Smith from The Cure, but now fans can listen to it in all its glory.

In March 2026, Olivia's website began sporting a new logo AND a new pink colour theme - convincing fans she was preparing to announce her album. Then on the 2nd April, she finally revealed the news we'd all been waiting for! Here's everything we know, now that the album has arrived.

'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love'

The third album from Olivia was released on 12th June 2026. The singer shared the news of its release with a heartfelt message to her fans, thanking everyone who had worked on the album with her, and for her fans for supporting her.

Her full statement read: 'My third album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is out now!!!! I love this album so much and I am so thrilled that it’s finally yours. The record is a time capsule of a relationship in all of its highs and lows. It’s my attempt at capturing love from both sides of the coin. The hope and the disappointment. The insanity and the clarity. The entanglement and the unravelling.'

She continued: 'I have so many people to thank for making this album a reality but I am most grateful to my producer Dan Nigro. He has been my musical confidant for 5 years now and I had the most wonderful time making all of these songs with him. Thank you also to songwriter genius Amy Allen for always inspiring me and raising the bar.

'Thank you Sasha Sloane, Steph Jones, Jim-E Stack, Mike Wise, Sterling Laws, Paul Cartwright, and Noah Conrad for sharing their immense musical talents on these songs. Thank you to Chad Moore, Jaime Gerin, Michelle An, Christiana Divona and Jes Sheldon for shaping the visual world of this album. Thank you to John Janick and everyone at Interscope for their unwavering love and support.

'And most of all thank you guys for listening. It sounds corny but I truly feel so lucky that I get to share in this journey with you all. The idea of someone listening to these songs and letting them into their world is the most wonderful thing I can think of. Here’s to hoping!'

What is the artwork?

After many months of teases and fan theories, Olivia officially announced her third album on 2nd April 2026. She took to social media to share the artwork telling her fans the name and release date: 'my third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now! 🩷'. (sic)

In an interview with Hits Radio, Olivia revealed more about the artwork, saying: "I really love the album cover and it has a lot of like meaning underneath the initial photo, but I just... it felt so joyful," she explained.

"I wanted the album to be about joy and I think there's nothing more joyful than swinging upside down on a swing. It's just feeling like so in love and like infatuated and that's sort of what it represented to me.

"And then the backside of the album is me laying in the grass and I sort of wanted to capture like being on the swing and then like maybe you fell off and like sitting in the grass. It's kind of the dichotomy of it all."

What is the album called?

For many months fans simply called the album 'OR3', however there were also some fan theories that it would be called 'Luck' or 'Burn'. These words followed the four letter word naming convention Olivia used in the past for her albums 'sour' and 'guts'.

However, Olivia threw in a curveball when she announced her album, revealing a very long name! It is called 'you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love'.

When was it released?

On the day Olivia announced her album, she also revealed the release date of 12th June 2026.

Olivia told NYLON in October 2025: “I won't say too much, but I think 2026 is going to be a busy year for me.”

Given Olivia's typical two‑year gap between albums ('sour' in May 2021 and 'guts' in September 2023), many fans believed the album would be out early to mid 2026, and they were right!

What about her outfits?

Before the album's announcement, many fans believed Olivia was shifting away from the purple colour used for 'sour' and 'guts' and wearing more red. The singer has Synaesthesia - where words can trigger her to see colours, so fans thought Liv saw the new album's name in red!

However, after revealing the name and some photos, the album colour appears to be pink!

In an interview with Hits Radio, she revealed about the two different sides of the album. She explained, while it was revealed that there are two sides to the album, she explained how that wasn't just physical.

"It sort of turned out to be like sort of like a concept-y album, which I didn't initially think it was going to be," Liv told Hits Radio.

"It really tells a story. And so the first side of the album, Side A is a little happier and then the B Side, it sort of starts to unravel, as I say."

She added: "(There's) really something for everyone on the album. I think anyone in any stage of a relationship can find a song that hopefully speaks to their situation."
