The 'Stick Season' singer is the subject of a new documentary
Last updated 13th Apr 2026
'Stick Season' singer Noah Kahan is the subject of a new documentary on Netflix. The singer, who has announced a UK tour for November, also has his fourth album 'The Great Divide' out this month.
Noah first rose to fame when his single 'Stick Season' went viral in 2022, despite having released two albums and several songs before.
In this new documentary, following the success of 'Stick Season', Noah now returns to his Vermont roots once again. He is followed by a documentary crew for one and a half years, as viewers learn more about the singer, his work and his family.
What is the documentary about?
A synopsis from Netflix reads: 'As a career-defining chapter propels him into global stardom, musician Noah Kahan stands at a crossroads. In the wake of the breakout success of Stick Season—an album born from the quiet of rural Vermont and embraced around the world—Noah begins work on his follow-up album while facing the mounting pressure of what comes next.
'Over a whirlwind year of sold-out tours and unprecedented acclaim, he returns to his Vermont roots and family. Buoyed by his uncanny wit, he searches for a sense of home and creative inspiration as he confronts the deeply personal struggles that have left him out of sync with himself.'
What has Noah said about the documentary?
Speaking to Deadline at SXSW, he opened up about the personal struggles he went through. He explained about his decision to do so: "It kind of happened naturally and I think I kind of compartmentalised that it would eventually be a documentary. I was like, 'Oh, this just kind of feels good' and to talk about these things and it felt like very cathartic and just like present in my mind. Um, and I kind of just didn't think about this moment here where it's like going to come out soon. It was just like almost like therapy."
When asked about what he had learnt about the process of creating his latest album, Noah said: "I was telling Nick (Sweeney - Director), I feel like watching the documentary get edited.
"Watching it evolve and watching how those conversations with me and my dad, or me and my siblings or, you know, me about my own body... like watching those things kind of come out felt like finally revealing that to myself almost and allowed me to make the music freely and I could start talking about those things without being afraid of, you know, people hearing it for the first time.
"So, it was actually a really nice way for me to like break the ice in terms of these emotions that I was going through and and really helped the album get created."
